ramsac to help educate South East SME's on Business Continuity Planning in event of disaster

90% of businesses that lose data from a disaster are forced to close within 18 months

ramsac a leading IT solutions provider, today announced that its next South East Professional Services Forum will focus on business continuity for the SME. This free forum, hosted by ramsac at its Godalming based offices in Surrey on the 15 th June, is aimed at educating local Surrey businesses on the importance of being able to cope with an event which has the potential to seriously interrupt the day to day operations of an organisation. These events can be anything from an IT systems failure to a fire or flood on the premises.

Business continuity management is simply about identifying possible events that may affect the running of a business and implementing solutions to ensure the business can carry on as usual. It is a worrying fact that businesses that have experienced major disruptions to their day-to-day operations have suffered severely, this is due to either little or no consideration to the affect a disaster may have. The government state that 80% of businesses affected by a major incident close within two years and 90% of businesses that lose data from a disaster are forced to close within 18 months.

Robert May, Managing Director of ramsac explains "The increasing number of threats in today's business environment means that companies need to take reasonable measures to ensure that their business can continue to operate in the event of an incident. At our latest forum we will look to help local SMEs to keep up-to-date with new trends and offer them an excellent networking opportunity. We look forward to welcoming local business professionals to the forum."

Key note speaker Bernard Jacobs, a consultant at Biscon Planning, a specialist in business continuity consultancy will lead the seminar. Jacobs explains, "It is often the case that SMEs overlook the need for effective management of this area, or that they focus on the wrong areas.

At the forum, we will provide attendees with information on how to deploy a business continuity management strategy as a five stage process, focusing on the site, people, technology, information and key suppliers of any organisation."

ramsac has been successfully hosting the South East Professional Services forums for the past two years, offering local businesses an opportunity to keep abreast of new technology and how it can help to improve business operations. Due to ramsac s commitment to the local business environment it has been awarded the Southern Business Times business of the month for March 2005.

The second of this year's South East Professional Services Forums will be held on Wednesday 15 th June at 17:00 at the ramsac offices in Ashcombe Court , Godalming, Surrey. Contact Melanie Wilcock on 0870 756 9001 to book your place.
